Shoe Dreams

I love Jessica Simpson! I know she says the craziest things sometimes but she cracks me up. Besides the fact that she dated John Mayer (ew) and a Dallas Cowboy (bigger EW...Go Redskins!!) I think she is adorable.

These shoes are even more adorable! A little like Mary Janes but so much better.
Now if only I were not 5'8" tall and these weren't 4.5 inch heels!

Pilot Love

It may sound cheesy to some people but I am part of the "Pilot Wives Club" online. It connects you with other women who are going through the same stuff as you. I don't actively chat with anyone but it is nice to read their blogs and see that there is someone else out there going through what you are going through. I stumbled across another woman's blog today and she had a "You know you're husband is a pilot when" list. I thought it would be entertaining to let everyone in on the certain things that MY pilot says and does.

You know you are married to a pilot when....
  • You ask him where he is and he gives you 3 letter airport codes. "Hey honey, where are you? Oh, I am leaving CRW".
  • You get frequent weather and visibilty updates when all you wanted to know is if he is somplace warmer than you,
  • Anytime he is driving you are asked "clear right?" on more than one occasion.
  • Somewhere around your house there are pictures of your husband either in the cockpit or proudly standing next to his plane.
  • You are expected to know his aircraft. A simple answer of "oh one of the small ones" does not suffice.
  • If he flies a jet you damn well better tell people he is a jet pilot.
  • You don't really care where he is for the day you just care that he answers his phone.
  • At one point or another he will refer to you, your baby, your friends, etc as the co-pilot.
  • You never ask other pilot wives "ohhhhh do you get to fly with him alot". You know the answer is NO
  • You know to not get too comfortable where you live. Chances are...it won't be permanent.
  • You know that most flight attendants aren't the hot chicks that you see in movies. (B still will never be allowed to have one!)
  • He says that he needs to "fuel up". What he really means he needs gas in the car.
  • If he needs to spell something...he is going to use the Phonetic Alphabet.
  • If there is a show about airplanes on, find a book to read because it will be a long night.
  • His suitcase will never be fully unpacked and he has two sets of toiletries.

Shoe Dreams

I run around the hotel so much during the day that usually by the end of the day my heels have been traded in for Uggs. I know that I need to invest in more flats if I ever want to make it through the day in cute shoes. These will be mine tonight around 5:30pm Nine West Ludovica

Life Update

This past weekend was spent being super productive! I cleaned out our spare bedroom, got rid of 8 boxes of WTF, baked whole wheat rosemary bread, vacuumed, washed the dog, worked on a crafty little wreath, and went to a bridal show with my cousin.

I am in love with our spare bedroom and I am seriously considering making it our master now. Every since we moved our house into a 2 bedroom apartment it has been so cluttered in there. I needed to get rid of stuff that was just not necessary and take the time to straighten it up. I literally had 3 gigantic boxes of shoes and I was so excited when I found some that haven't been worn in a loooooong time. I found my wedding shoes and they still had the penny in the side!! The closet quickly became my shoe heaven and left little room for other things. To top it off, Sister A gave me a pillow for Christmas that is similar to this one (it's different colors)...  love it! I purchased a new blanket and sheets and designed the colors of the room around the pillow. Sad but true!

On sunday I went to a bridal show with my cousin and helped her figure out different ideas. I love event planning and it is even more fun when you see the process through from start to finish. I even helped her to cut her total bill completely in half! Hopefully this has eased her worries a little bit and I can't wait to be there for her. September can't get here soon enough!

Slacking

So I have been an official slacker already when it comes to this blog. My bad...I will try to do better :o)

Currently on my Nook

I absolutely LOVE my NookColor. Hubby B did a great job when he picked it out. While I miss passing my "girly" books down to Sister A, I will save more money by using the Nook. Each month my magazine subscriptions will come to this fabulous piece of technology. When I turn it on I get a little notification that says my magazine is available for download. Since getting it at Christmas I have already read 4 books! I am working my way through the Sookie Stackhouse series and I have read the Kendra Wilkinson Memoir.

(Spoiler alert: yes, she has knocked boots with Hugh Hefner! They never would really answer the question on Girls Next Door)

Shoe Dreams

I have been on the hunt for the perfect boot all winter. I have tried on probably 30-40 pairs and still haven't found the right one. They are either too tight around my calf, not the right shade of brown, or not within the price range. So of course when I find the perfect pair...they are not available until Valentine's Day. I am thinking I will show myself some love that day and purchase them.

Poppin' bubbly

As bestie S can you tell you, I love Champagne! To top it off, pink is my favorite color so naturally these cupcakes look fantastic to me. I plan on making them from scratch without the pre-mixed stuff so hopefully they turn out ok. Stay tuned for pics of my attempt at this fabulousness!

Champagne Cupcakes
(recipe adapted from Betty Crocker)
1 box Betty Crocker® SuperMoist® white cake mix
1 1/4 cups champagne
1/3 cup vegetable oil
3 egg whites
4 to 5 drops red food coloring
Champagne Frosting
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup champagne
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 to 5 drops red food coloring
Garnish
Pink decorator sugar crystals
Edible pink pearls

  1. Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Place paper baking cup in each of 24 regular-size muffin cups.
  2. In large bowl, combine dry cake mix and champagne. Add oil, eggs and food color. Beat with electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes. Divide batter evenly among muffin cups.
  3. Bake 17 to 22 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  4. In medium bowl, beat frosting ingredients with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Frost cupcakes. Sprinkle with pink sugar and pearls.

Shoe Dreams

I love winter for more than one reason. My wedding was in the winter, I started dating hubby B in the winter, my little sister was born in December, and I love the way snow looks when it is fresh and untouched. However, deep down I am a summer girl. I love flip flops, the "no makeup" make-up look, the smell of suntan lotion, beaches, and fruity drinks with little umbrellas. I also love that you can wear shoes like these! The fact that they are Coach only has a little to do with my love for these shoes.

Shoe Dreams

If a girl ever had a dream of shoes, I can almost guarantee you these would be in it. I am obsessed with these shoes and maybe one day when I win the lottery I will get them. Only $3095, no biggie! But until then I will be dreaming of these...Christian Louboutin Crystal Encrusted Suede Pump

Black and Gold Baby

So today I officially became a VCU Ram!! I guess I technically became one when I paid the deposit but today feels more official now that I have my student I.D. I got to tour my building (Snead Hall), eat a delicious and healthy meal of Corndogs and Tater Tots, wander around campus, and enjoy not being 19 anymore (seriously...those kids were nuts!) I also got to register for my classes and lucky me...I get to take Calculus. Quote of the day from said 19 year old: "We looked at da Engineerin' buildin' and dey gotz the outside on the inside but it's stuff from outside wit walls".  (It was an atrium) I sincerely hope this kid becomes an Architect...I believe he would be awesome at it.

Shoe Dreams

I am dying to have these! They are new at Baker's this week and of course it would be the week that I start paying for tuition again. Oh well, a girl can dream right?

Leap of faith

We are only 10 days into 2011 and so far things are great! A while ago my bestie "S" and I decided to make bucket lists. A few items on my list were to keep a journal for an entire year, write something I am thankful for everyday for 365 days, adopt an animal through the WWF, and start a cooking blog. So far I have started the journal, written something I am thankful for everyday (all 10 of them!) and adopted an animal through the WWF. While I think that starting a cooking blog was a fabulous idea, I know that my A.D.D will kick in and I will begin to venture off of the path. I figure instead of setting myself up for that, I will just create a general blog where I can list everything that I want. Hopefully, I will have followers and I will not be writing to an empty "room". Here's hoping... (BTW I adopted a Sumatran Rhino...his name is Reggie!)
